STUDENT BULLETIN FOR DECEMBER 5

KUDOS TO WILLIAMS STUDENTS! 

o   PATRIOT PEN ESSAY CONTEST:  Three of our very own students at Williams Middle School entered and placed in the Patriot Pen Essay Contest, sponsored by the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW).  Madison Archer placed first overall, Ariana Green Young placed 2nd overall and Navneet Purwal placed 3rd overall. Students received a certificate and prize money for their efforts. Congratulations and thank you for representing Williams Middle School.

o   MUSIC HONORS:  Big applause and congratulations to all of the Williams music students who were nominated and accepted into the District Honor Band and Honor Orchestra:  Zoie Malveda, Roxanna Felter, Ray Ek, Hunter Johnson, Parker Nolan, Syndey Garcia, Dominic Smith, McKay Keller, Anthony Escamilla, Andray Clark, Francisco Peralta, Alina Kim, Roocha Thatte, Tomas Metge, Tamana Esmat, Jessica Sawyer, Jocelyne Romero, Angelina Martin, Avery Rodda, Diego Orihuela, Khoi Cao, Malaika Sekombo, Meghana Kalle, Reese Dent, Anthony Wahhab, Raina Dent, Kavish Kargal and Lauren Alvarez.

PIZZA FUNDRAISER:  Put it on your calendar! We will be doing a fundraiser at Blaze Pizza TODAY for Science Camp. Flyers were passed out on Tuesday! Please come support our school and get some yummy pizza!

COLOR BATTLE FUNDRAISER:  Keep getting those donations for the Color Battle.  If you lost your registration code, you can get it from your core teachers.  Remember to sign up for the Remind App on your phones to get the latest updates on activities & prizes.

STUDENT REMINDER:  Please do not hang around the elementary schools.  It has been reported that students have been seen at Villalovoz after school is out.  This is not allowed.  If you are waiting to pick up a sibling, you must wait in their designated area.

SCIENCE CAMP SHIRTS:  Last call for orders for 6th grade science camp t-shirts and hoodies.  They were due yesterday.  Bring them to the office now with your ID card.

BOYS BASKETBALL:  If you are a 7th or 8th grade boy interested in basketball, tryouts will be Mon, Dec 10th, through Wed, Dec 12th, after school in the Williams Middle School Gym. You must attend all three day of tryouts to be considered.  Pick up a permission slip at the student window.  Be sure to wear proper basketball attire for tryouts. The schedule for tryouts is as follows:

o   Mon, Dec 10th from 2:00pm 3:45pm.

o   Tue, Dec 11th from 3:00pm 4:45pm

o   Wed, Dec 12th from 3:00pm 4:45pm

YEARBOOKS:  Reserve your yearbook now for only $35.  The price will be going up to $40.

8TH GRADE ANNOUNCEMENTS:  High school counselors will be back on Wed, Dec 12, to collect registration materials.  Make sure you took them home to have your parents sign. 

o   SUMMER BRIDGE applications are due to Mr. Kimball this Friday, Dec 7th.  Spaces are filling up so make sure to get the applications completed and returned to the office as soon as possible.

o   WEST HIGH SEA:  Check out West Highs Space & Engineering Academy if you are interested in science, engineering & technology.  Go to their website: www.goo.gl/2kHKjB  or pick up a flyer in the office. 

o   WEST HIGH PARENT INFORMATION NIGHT:  Come to West High on Thursday, Dec 6, for our Parent Information Night for Incoming Freshmen.  It will be at 6:00pm in the West High Theater on the east side of campus. 

o   KIMBALL HIGH 8TH GRADE ACADEMIC PROGRAMS FAIR:  Learn about the programs that Kimball High has to offer at the Programs Fair on Thursday, Dec 6th from 6pm 8pm in their Athletic Complex.

  OUTSIDE ACTIVITIES: Watch this section for information on activities in our city that may interest you.

o   BOYS TO MEN YOUTH CONFERENCE:  This years theme is Refuse to Lose: Dream Plan Succeed!.  This is a free conference for all boys ages 10 and up.  It will be held on Saturday, Dec 8, from 9AM 2PM at Kimball High.  We will have activities, speakers, prizes, entertainment & a free catered lunch.  It is free, but you have to pre-register.  Forms are available at the student window.

o   TRACY EXPRESS GIRLS SOFTBALL:  Recreational softball for girls ages 3-15.  Registration has begun.  Go to www.tracyexpress.com.  Pick up a flyer at the student window.

o   JR WARRIORS BASKETBALL LEAGUE:  Open to boys & girls in 5th 8th grades.  Register at the City of Tracy Arts & Rec website.  Pick up a flyer at the student window.

CLUBS

o   Art Club:  Meetings are on Wednesdays after school in Room 21 until 4:00pm (Mr. Kerin)

o   Chess Club:  Meeting are on Thursdays in the Library after school until 3:40pm.  Mr. Rosales will be in charge of the meeting this week. (Mr. Hunter, Rm 14)

o   Drama Club:  Meets for rehearsals every Wednesday from 2:45pm-4:00pm in the Multi-Purpose Room.  (Mr. Kauk, Rm 18)

o   Math Olympiad for 7th & 8th Graders:  Meets every Friday 2:40pm to 3:30pm in Room 48.  (Mrs. Hundal, rm 48)

o   Science Olympiad:  Meets on Tuesday from 2:45pm-3:30pm in Room 31.  All grade levels are welcome; 6th, 7th & 8th. (Mr. Rosales, rm 31)
