Students need to be at school (except, of course, when they are ill) in order to learn and stay current with their studies.
In addition, schools receive local and state support (a.k.a.$) only when students are in attendance. You are encouraged to schedule medical or dental appointments during non-school hours if at all possible. Students with excessive absences will be referred to the district's Student Attendance Reveiw Board (SARB).
By law, schools are required to know the exact reason for a student's absence. If you know your child is going to be absent, please call our office and give us this information. The office phone is equipped with an answering machine that allows you to leave messages before the office opens at 8:00am. Another option is to email your child's teacher and ask that the message be forwarded to the office.
