Tracy High School Boys and Girls Soccer • Winter 2017/2018
Boys and Girls soccer parents/guardians,
Thank you for your interest in participating in soccer this winter. Please use the calendars below for all dates and times.
Here are some approximate dates and guidelines to help your planning.
In order to participate in weight training, conditioning, or tryouts, the following must be completed:
Players who participated in a fall sport must still register for the winter season on FamilyID.
PHYSICAL EXAMS: A physical exam must be current within the past 12 months and signed and dated by the physician. You can upload your physical online or turn it in to the Maria Arce (athletic secretary). If the student’s physical expires during the season, they will not be able to play until a new physical exam is received.
Emergency Card. This is also done online through familyid.
Check the status of your GIRLS SOCCER registration here. You cannot tryout unless your name is on this list with a valid physical, and the word "Approved" in the far right column.
Check the status of your BOYS SOCCER registration here (coming soon). You cannot tryout unless your name is on this list with a valid physical, and the word "Approved" in the far right column.
In order to play in games, you must also fit the following criteria:
1st quarter grades may not have any “F’s” cannot have more than 1 F and you must have a GPA of at least a 2.0. Players will also be grade checked as both 1st quarter and 1st semester grades affect eligibility during the season.
Saturday school hours need to be below 16, so any hours will hurt players chances of making the team.
Players must have proper equipment (cleats, shin-guards, etc.).
Q: I am new to trying out, what do I need to do?
A: Soccer is currently a winter sport. Get good grades, get a physical, and show up to the first informational team meeting in mid-September.
Q: What do I do if I am participating in a Tracy High School fall sport?
A: If you are playing a THS fall sport you must finish your season of sport before participating in any soccer activities. Players should make sure to let Kalis know that they plan on attending once their sport has ended. Note that players must register for each individual sport through FamilyID.
Q: How long will tryouts last?
A: The length of tryouts will depend on the number of players trying out and usually lasts about 5 days which include 2 rounds of cuts.
Q: How many players make the team?
A: Typically around 18 or 19, but anywhere from 16-23.
Q: Can I play another winter sport at THS at the same time as soccer?
Q: Can I play on an outside soccer team during the high school soccer season?
A: Once we play our first game (near Dec. 1st) players cannot play in any Club GAMES until the high school season has concluded. Players may train with outside clubs, but that is not recommended.
Q: What formation do we play?
A: We do not play just one formation. Players are expected to understand US Soccer's numbering system by position and their accompanying roles (picture below).
