Welcome to Monte Vista Middle School. As the principal of MVMS, it gives me great pleasure to welcome you and your family to our school. At Monte Vista, we strive for excellence in everything we do. We have several outstanding and rigorous programs, including a superb music program (orchestra, concert band, jazz band, marching band), a certified AVID program, and a rigorous Gifted and Talented program for high achievers.

In addition, we believe that a healthy student will progress at a faster rate. Our physical education department is exceptional and has excellent fields and facilities, including two gyms, a bike room, and beautifully groomed fields.

Our fully qualified and credentialed faculty is among the best in the nation, with several teachers and administrators holding advanced degrees. In the end, our goal is to send the best freshmen to high school.

As for my own education, I hold BA in International Studies and Spanish, an MA in Multicultural Education, and a doctorate in Educational Administration and Leadership with my dissertation focused on dual language institutes. I taught Spanish in Stockton Unified and San Joaquin Delta College before becoming a high school admnistrator. I was a high school administrator for 10 years before becoming principal at Monte Vista. My personal passion is equity in education and service to underserved populations.

My door is always open for students and families.

Dr. Barbara Silver, Principal
Monte Vista Middle School
