  • Thank you so much to everyone that participated in the All for Books Change Drive! Our students (and staff) are very generous. We were able to collect $2095.70 this year, blowing away our collection amount of $1440 from last year. I am sure Case for Kids will be over the moon when they receive $2095.70 worth of books to give to the many foster children that they help.

  • Music Department - Choir practice every Wednesday 3-3:30PM in Room 42
  • Staff Parking Lot
    • New signs have been posted in our staff parking lot. The staff parking lot is ONLY for staff and requires a permit to park in this area. Any vehicle parked in this area without a permit will be cited or towed by city officials. To ensure safety, our parking lot is monitored by the Tracy Police Department.
  • Parents please DO NOT use the parking lot as a drop off or pick up area! It is not safe for the children.
  • Attendance is IMPORTANT!
    • Teachers cannot teach students who are not in school. There is strong evidence that shows regular attendance can result in significant improvements in test scores.
    • Each month, our school goal is 98% attendance.
  • Closed Campus
    • All visitors must sign in at the office and wear a visitor's sticker.  We are a closed campus for the safety of all our students.

Dear Kelly Families,
Spring has sprung and the state CASPP (California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress) testing is still in progress for 3rd-8th grade students. Performing well in class and on the state assessments helps students to build a strong academic foundation, which in turn determines the classes they take in high school and college. Parents, we are counting on your support to reinforce academics at home by asking your students to focus on their classwork, homework, and studying for the tests.
You can support your students by doing the following:
1. Make sure students come to school daily on time. Attendance is extremely important.
2. Students complete homework daily.
 3. Students read, practice math facts and practice math using IXL or other math programs daily.
 4. If your child needs help, please contact your child’s teacher now to get help.
5. If your child’s teacher asks your child to stay for extra help, please make sure your child stays.
6. You may go to the California Department of Education’s website for more information regarding the state testing.
In addition to testing, we have reached the half way mark of the third trimester! Progress reports will be sent home on April 6th. Please make sure you sign and return your child’s progress report to the teacher.
April’s calendar has some fantastic events at Kelly!! Make sure to mark your calendars! In addition, to stay informed “Like Us” on our Facebook pages, both for the school and PTO.

 Assistant Principal Message

Dear George Kelly Families,
Due to the increase of traffic during the dismissal hours we have set these procedures to ensure the safety of our students and staff. When picking up children at dismissal times, please remember the following:
1.)    Vehicles are only allowed to park along the curb or in the driveway 10 minutes before release time. For example, Monday students are released at 1:15pm, so vehicles will be allowed to wait along the curb or in the drive way starting at 1:05pm, but not before.
2.)    Pull ALL the way forward when coming through the pick-up line. We are trying to move as many cars through as quickly as possible to keep traffic flowing.
3.)    When exiting the driveway, turning right helps the flow of traffic. If you turn right exiting the driveway, and then left at the next available street, Carol Ann Drive, you will do a loop and end up back on Golden Leaf Lane. By taking this route YOU will help the flow of traffic and avoid possible accidents.
4.)    Obey the rules of the road…we have requested an increase in Tracy Police Department’s presence. It is illegal to do a U-Turn over a double yellow line, crossing without using the crosswalk (jaywalking), as well as pulling alongside of a parked vehicle to have a child enter into a vehicle. These are all illegal and major safety hazards.
5.)    Parents please wait on either side of the caution tape. Students are not allowed to run around and play on the front concrete area, or the grass area by the bike rack.
6.)    If you would like to help keep our dismissals safe, please sign up for our “Afternoon Angels,” to help make sure our students, staff, and parents are safe. Please see Mrs. Rocio in our office to add your name to our list. I would personally like to thank ALL of the “Afternoon Angels” who have volunteered so far-we appreciate your presence.
We appreciate and thank you in advance for following our dismissal procedures. This will help keep everyone safe at George Kelly School.
Ms. Mary Petty
Assistant Principal
