TK and Kindergarten
TUSD Philosophy Statement
Transitional Kindergarten (TK) in TUSD is designed to provide a safe, healthy and nurturing environment. The academic, moral, social, emotional and physical needs of each child will be met to ensure early school success and to close the achievement gap.
The TK program will honor and celebrate the many cultures represented in our District. Each family will be invited to participate in their child’s education, thus fostering an active partnership between home and school.
In TK, teachers help children develop social skills through activities that build confidence and communication. They also expose children to reading and math in an exciting, interactive way by using educational games to teach children about words and sentences and help them understand mathematical concepts like counting and patterns.
If your child’s birthday falls between September 2nd, 2018 and April 2nd, 2019, your child is eligible for Transitional Kindergarten in the 2023-2024 school year.
Your child must be completely toilet trained (no diapers/no pull-ups) in order to be enrolled in Transitional Kindergarten.
