Applications cannot be considered until all of the following documentation has been received:

Students and Parents will receive notification by TBD regarding their acceptance status to the program.

SEA Boot Camp is a fun, one-week introduction in July that is designed to help incoming freshmen transition into the Space & Engineering Academy and West High School. Throughout the week, students build friendships, develop teamwork and technology skills, become familiar with the campus and SEA expectations, and gain confidence before the first day of school. Working in teams, students complete an exciting drone engineering challenge that introduces them to the design process, coding, problem-solving, technical documentation, and presentations—all while experiencing the collaboration and hands-on learning that define the SEA program.

Our SEA Officers serve as student leaders who help build a welcoming academy community by planning and running monthly events, representing the interests of their classmates, and promoting student involvement throughout the year.

SEA Graduation Requirements

To graduate from the Space & Engineering Academy (SEA), students complete the following requirements during their four years in the program.Together, these requirements prepare students for college and careers in science, engineering, and technology by combining rigorous academics with leadership, career exploration, service, and hands-on experiences. 

Freshman Year (Grade 9)

• Begin and maintain your SEA Four-Year Plan.
• Begin working toward the required 80 hours of community service.

Sophomore Year (Grade 10)

• Review and update your SEA Four-Year Plan.
• Continue earning community service hours.

Junior Year (Grade 11)

• Review and update your SEA Four-Year Plan.
• Continue earning community service hours.
• Create an up-to-date résumé that includes your community service and job shadowing experiences.
• Complete a Career Interest Survey.
• Complete a College Survey.
• Participate in a Mock Interview or Interview Workshop.
• Take the ASVAB Career Assessment.

Senior Year (Grade 12)

• Review and finalize your SEA Four-Year Plan.
• Complete the required 80 community service hours.
• Participate in a 4–6 hour Job Shadowing experience with a science, engineering, or technology professional.
• Complete a Senior Service Project.

Graduate with Honors (Optional)

Students may earn the distinction of SEA Graduate with Honors by:

• Maintaining a cumulative 3.75 GPA or higher throughout high school.
• Obtaining four teacher recommendation letters during their senior year.

Recognition

Students who complete all SEA graduation requirements receive:

• SEA Graduation Certificate
• SEA Transcript Designation
• SEA Diploma Seal
• SEA Graduation Medallion

SEA Graduate Requirements

Every SEA student develops a personalized Four-Year Plan that provides a clear pathway to high school graduation, college admission, and future career goals. While all students complete a rigorous program that includes advanced science, engineering, mathematics, and specialized academy courses, they also have the flexibility to choose electives and classes that match their individual interests and aspirations. This personalized approach helps students build the knowledge, skills, and experiences needed for success beyond high school. You can download the Four-Year Plan using the link below.

To graduate from the Space & Engineering Academy (SEA), students must complete 80 hours of approved community service.

Requirements for SEA Community Service Credit

To receive SEA community service credit, the activity must meet all of the following requirements:

• Benefit a person or organization within the Tracy community, such as a charitable organization, school, or religious organization, by providing support they could not otherwise do themselves or could not do without assistance.
• Directly benefit the Tracy community.
• Be independently organized and supervised. The activity may not be organized or supervised by a family member.
• Be unpaid. Students may not receive payment or any other form of compensation, including grades, awards, or class credit.
• Not be used for another program's service requirement. Hours submitted for JROTC, AVID, or any other organization or program cannot also be used for SEA community service credit.

Finding Community Service Opportunities

The "Community Service" channel in the SEA Teams contains the most current list of approved opportunities.

Preapproved Community Service Opportunities

• The Preapproved Community Service List contains organizations and activities that have already been approved for SEA community service credit.

• New one-time volunteer opportunities are also posted regularly in the "Community Service" channel in SEA Teams. If an opportunity is posted there, it has already been approved for SEA community service credit.

Want to Do a Different Service Activity?

If the activity is not on the preapproved list or posted in SEA Teams, you must receive approval before participating.

1. Complete the Community Service Approval Form.
2. Bring the completed form to Ms. Haut (MS-22) for approval.
3. If approved, Ms. Haut will sign the form.
4. Turn the signed form in to Mrs. Contreras (H-4).

After your service is finished:

1. Have the person who directly supervised your service complete and sign the Community Service Form.
2. Turn the completed form in to Mrs. Contreras (H-4) as soon as possible.

As part of the Space & Engineering Academy graduation requirements, seniors participate in a 4–6 hour job shadowing experience with a science, engineering, or technology professional. This unique opportunity allows students to observe professionals in their workplace, learn about their career path, ask questions, and gain firsthand insight into what a typical day on the job is like.

Students may choose from the SEA's network of industry partners or arrange their own approved job shadow experience. By connecting classroom learning with real-world careers, job shadowing helps students explore future career options, make informed decisions about college and career pathways, and build valuable professional connections.

Frequently Asked Questions

Who: Open to all SEA students.  The club has room for eight teams of six students each.

When: Club meetings and workdays Wednesdays and Fridays after school*, and tournaments on Saturdays once a month.  Runs August through March.

Where: Room T-7.
