Quick Launch

Tracy Teacher Induction Program

Every new hire in the District participates in TTIP and receives six days of pre-service training, four days of

follow-up training with substitute coverage provided, regular classroom  follow-up and support, and an

assigned site support person.

The six days of pre-service induction are filled with activities which explain the Districts' professional

expectations and the District culture, classroom management techniques, effective teaching strategies,

lesson design as well as planning using the District adopted curriculum and content standards.  One of

these six days is designated as a Site Orientation day where the new hire is welcomed and introduced to

the sites' culture by the principal.

Four release days are provided throughout the first year in the District.  These days are for additional

training, planning, classroom visitation and observation.

Pre-interns, interns, or new teachers not participating in the BTSA Program will have a site Partner Teacher

who will support everyday needs and provide explanations about how business is accomplished at the

school.

A Staff Development Specialist will also be assigned to assist with curriculum and instruction and planning

and implementing effective teaching methodologies.  The staff development specialist will provide on-

going individualized support throughout the year by visiting the class, providing demonstration lessons

and assisting with planning and teaching.
