Qualifying Information
 
The Tracy Unified School District has developed an identification process that ensures all students (including those from diverse socio-economic and cultural backgrounds, and/or disabilities) an equal opportunity to be identified and participate in the GATE program. There are a variety of ways that a student can qualify.
The following are some examples: 
 
 
GATE ID
Conditional/Situational

 

For students entering 2nd – 5th grade

 
A score at or above the 95th  percentile on the NNAT3.
 
 
 
For students entering 2nd – 5th grade
 
If the student scores between the 85th 94th percentiles on the NNAT3 they are eligible for the GATE program as a Conditional/HA.
   
Multiple measures are considered when determining placement:
·        NNAT3 Score
·        TUSD formative assessment
·        Cognitive characteristic checklist
 
 
 
 
For students entering 6th – 8th grade
 
A score at or above the 95th  percentile on the NNAT3
For students entering 6th – 8th grade
 
If the student scores between the 85th – 94th percentiles on the NNAT3 they are eligible for the GATE program as a Conditional/HA.
   
Multiple measures are considered when determining placement:
·        NNAT3 Score
·        TUSD formative assessment
·        Cognitive characteristic checklist
·        Advances Academic Work in Core Subjects
·        Cognitive characteristic
 
 
  • Assessments by private licensed psychologists are considered on a case-by-case basis. 
  • Scores must be current within one year of GATE placement.
  • In the case of dispute, appeals may be made to the Director of Student Services, a designee of the Superintendent.  All decisions will be final.
