Abigail Simens

Current Position: High School Drama Teacher
        
School Site: Kimball High School. This is my first year teaching as well          as my first year working with TUSD. 

Fun Fact: I graduated from college in 3 years with my Bachelors in Theatre! I attended California State University Sacramento. 

Most Important Trait to be Successful: Passion. I find that having                  passion for the subject you are teaching often influences the students          more than people realize. When the students see you so excited to teach, it gets them excited to learn. I absolutely love teaching theatre, and I hope my passion can influence the next generation of students. 

The BEST thing about my job is... being able to teach and work with so many talented students. The Geri Neylan Performing Arts Theatre would be nothing without the amazing talent from the students. I am just the lucky one who gets to work with them.

My Story: I graduated from John C. Kimball High School in 2023. I was one of the many lucky students to have Geri Neylan as my high school drama teacher. While I know I loved theatre going into her class, it was her who made me realize teaching theatre was my true calling. I attended California State University Sacramento right out of college where I obtained my Bachelor's degree in 3 years and my teaching credential in 1 year. I am now living my dream earlier than I ever thought I could. Working back at the Kimball theatre is truly a dream come true.
