The summer has been a busy time for us as new staff are hired, and maintenance projects are started and completed during the summer break. I cannot say enough about the staff and their efforts to get our facilities ready for the opening day of school. Our schools look terrific! Progress is still moving forward at Central Elementary as we build a new school. We are expected to move in to the new facility during spring break. It has been fun watching the new buildings rise.
This year, TUSD has hired more than 60 new teachers, administrators and classified staff. I want to welcome Ben Keller as the new principal of Kimball High School. Mr. Keller comes to us from the south half of the state. Congratulations to Kelly Patchen, the new principal at Bohn Elementary and to Mary Petty, the new principal at Jacobson Elementary. Both Ms. Patchen and Ms. Petty served the district last year as assistant principals. Mr. Rob Pecot, former principal at Kimball High School is now our Director of Student Services. Ms. Tania Salinas, former principal at Jacobson Elementary is now our Director of Assessment and Accountability. We wish everyone much success in his or her new positions.
I am confident that this year will be one of great success for your student. If during the school year, you have concerns about the performance of your student, please do not hesitate to contact your child’s teacher or school administrator. Working together, we can make all students succeed.
