October 2015
Autumn Greetings to Parents and Guardians,
The end of the first quarter is right around the corner. Soon, it will be time for parent conferences (October 26th-30th). Please watch for information coming home with your child about that very important week. I will also keep you posted and updated with phone messages about conferences and other events taking place.
I wanted to remind you that we require helmets to be worn if your child rides a bicycle, scooter, or skateboard to school. I know some students may think they are too cool to ride with a helmet but their ride will be confiscated for you to pick up if they don’t. J Thank you for your support with this important matter. We both want your child to arrive to school and back home safely.
Hopefully, your child has been talking with you about their classes at school. We are transitioning into Next Generation Science Standards that will build on Life, Earth, and Physical science that was taught in elementary school. By the time your child leaves us after 8th grade, they will be prepared for freshman Integrated Science. Many of our 6th graders are going into the actual science lab to conduct experiments.
Our English Language Arts classes are structured so that each grade level is working on the same standards around the same time frame. We have a group of teachers designing rigorous curriculum to help prepare students for using resources other than a text book as well as learning how to navigate the internet to find and use appropriate information in their assignments.
Testing results from last year’s CAASPP/SBAC testing is being reported by school and student. You will receive your child’s results in the mail very soon.
Please see our posted bulletin for activities that your child can be involved in after school. I believe we have a variety of activities to fit your child’s interests. The teachers who have the after school activities are there as volunteers - how fabulous is that!
I look forward to seeing you at Parent Conferences. If you have any questions or concerns please contact me at or call me at 209-830-3345 ext. 5474.
