Principal’s Message

It's exciting that March has arrived!    10th graders took the PSAT yesterday.  Spring sports have started, and Boys’ Basketball has a big game tonight at UOP.  This time of year moves really fast.  We are heading towards testing for our Juniors, Senior activities including Prom are getting close, we are moving quickly to spring break, and graduation is just around the corner.

On a personal note, last week we took the family up to Pinecrest to enjoy some sledding in the snow.  Just the drive to the mountain was beautiful, seeing all the green grass and the streams running down from the mountains.  There was a lot of snow and that day it actually rained so there weren’t very many people on the mountain, so we had a great time creating a path for the sled in the fresh snow.  It was so much fun to sled down the mountain, although between the shoveling of the snow and the bouncing down the mountain, I was sore in a few places the following day.  One of my children misplaced a pair of snow gloves, so my wife spent the day with her fingers pulled into her jacket except when it was time to take pictures.  This reminded me how important it is to be prepared and to have the correct equipment for events.  School is the same.  Teachers take the time to prepare, plan and provide the correct equipment for students to learn.  It is important for students to take advantage of that equipment and preparation.  If one piece is missing it can cause the student to fall behind.  Please continue to encourage your students to be in school every day and to come prepared for great opportunities each day.

Thank you for all the support you provide.  Thank you for sending your students to us.  We enjoy the chance we have to teach them, work with them, and get to know them.  We also enjoy the opportunities we have to get to know each of you as parents and supporters of our school.  West High is a great place to be.  Thank you.
