Dear Villalovoz Pandas,
As the new principal of Villalovoz Elementary school, I would like to welcome you back for the 2015-2016 school year. I hope your summer has been pleasant and you are as excited as I am for the beginning of the new school year. I anticipate an exhilarating year as we collectively strive to foster a culture of learning. I feel extremely fortunate to be working with such an exceptional group of students, families, and staff members. I would like to take this opportunity to tell you a little about myself. This will be my 10th year in education. As a teacher, I taught 1st grade at Kelly School, 2nd grade at Central School and K-1 SDC at Villalovoz School with Tracy Unified School District. The past three years I served as a Vice Principal for Traina School in Jefferson School District. I am excited to return home not only to Tracy Unified but especially to the Villalovoz Panda family.
Our staff is committed to working with students and their families as a team. The rigorous curriculum is directly aligned to the California State Standards. To help each child achieve to his/her fullest potential, the school provides both enrichment and intervention supports for students.
We welcome all our families back to another exciting, challenging year. Always contact your child’s teacher first with any concerns you may have. Please know that I am available to meet with you in person or talk to you over the telephone to discuss any concerns you may have. As the instructional leader of this campus I am responsible for all decisions made in the best interest of your children.
School begins on Tuesday, August 11, 2015 at 8:20am and classroom assignments again will be posted on August 7 @ 5:00pm. Our first bell will ring at 8:20am with the second bell at 8:25am to signal the start of the school day. Dismissal will be at 1:30 on Mondays and 2:40 (K-3) or 3:00 (4-5) Tuesday through Friday. I look forward to meeting our students and their families on the first day of school and at our Back to School Night on Thursday, August 13, 2015 from 5:45 - 7:00pm.
When you arrive on August 11, please proceed to your child’s classroom where teachers will be waiting to meet their class. Each teacher will have a chair with the room number of his or her class and their name for easy identification. When the bell rings, teachers will take their class in to the classroom. Our school is a closed campus which means that at 8:20 all gates will be locked and all visitors must come through the office to enter the school.
Research shows that parental involvement in a child’s education benefits the child. These benefits are higher levels of academic achievement, positive attitudes, and greater maturity and responsibility. Because the benefits are so solid, I urge you to take part as much as possible in the life of our school. It does take an entire village to raise a child. Your assistance as a volunteer would be extremely valuable to our students. Consider becoming a school volunteer. There are many areas where your help would be appreciated. Please remember that all volunteers have to be cleared through the district office in order to be on campus. For more information on volunteer clearance please contact our office.
I look forward to a great year and to meeting all our new children and their families. I hope you enjoy the final days of summer!
