Hello Panda Families,

The month of April is the start of our Smarter Balanced Assessment Consortium (SBAC). This computer-based adaptive assessment is aligned to the Common Core State Standards for English and math, which California adopted in 2010 to describe what knowledge and skills students need to know to be well prepared for college and careers.  This is a modern assessment system designed to help shape teaching and learning in the classroom. These tests will be administered during the months of April and May for our third through fifth grade students.

If you are wondering what you can do to help your child, here are some suggestions:

* Encourage your child to try his/her best!

* Help your child get a good night's sleep.

 * Help your child with time management.

* Remind your child to read carefully.

* Remind your child to check his/her work.

I know our teachers have been working hard to make sure our students are well prepared for this rigorous test.

Ms. Karim , Principal
