Attendance is IMPORTANT!
Teachers cannot teach students who are not in school. There is strong evidence that shows regular attendance can result in significant improvements in test scores.
Each month, our school goal is 98% attendance.
Common Core State Standards
The Common Core is changing the way we teach our students, and changing the types of work our students are doing.  To find out more about the Common Core, visit the TUSD Common Core Information Page.

The GKES PTO is looking for volunteers to help with the Box Top and Labels for Education programs.  We need someone to lead the committee and members to help participate in supporting, counting, cutting and preparing the Box Tops and labels for education.   We ask teachers twice a year for submission (one in the fall and one in the spring).  We need help for the next spring collection.  Please contact Hector Lopez at if you are interested and please note if you would like to be the committee chair.  In the fall submission for Box Tops we earned approximately $1800.  This is a great opportunity to provide fundraising support for our kids without having to donate any money.  Thanks in advance for your support.

Are you a go-getter?  Are you someone who likes to interact with others?  Are you someone who enjoys supporting our kids?  If so, the GKES PTO has an excellent opportunity available.  We are in need of a Donations Chair (and a team of volunteers to support the Donations Chair).  A lot of the activities occur in support of the Fall Festival but this is also a valuable source of support for PTO all year long.  Some activities include:
1.      Coordinate and lead a team of volunteers to work on solicitation of donations
2.      Solicit donations from local businesses, companies where the GKES parents work and businesses outside of the our community.
a.      Call all businesses solicited after a donation letter has been mailed
b.      Confirm letter was received.  If not, send them one.  If yes, inquire if interested in donating.  Make arrangements to pick up or receive by mail.
c.      Ensure all follow up on donations is executed
d.      Record received donations, including business/donor name, contact name, address, categorization, description and value information.
e.      Generate thank you letter to be mailed; mail thank you letters to all donators

If you are interested in either the Donations Chair, being part of the team, or have something to donate please contact Hector Lopez at

Dear Kelly Families,

Fall is well underway now that Daylights Savings time has started and the weather is getting cooler.

George Kelly’s girls’ basketball season is getting started this month with a 5th/6th grade team, as well as a 7th/8th grade team. Keep a look out for the game days and come out to support our girls!

Many students participated in the district wide Anti-Bullying poster contest. There were many fantastic posters submitted supporting the “Choice is Yours” message.  The posters were hung in the West Valley Mall during the month of October and then in the district office.

The poster finalists are invited to the Red Carpet event where the winners from each category will be announced. Poster finalists from George Kelly are Jade Syamsu, Iris Galicia, Bernice De Guzman, Anya Aguilar, Kent Vincent Mangonon, Shaylee Towkaniuk, Marshel Escakera, Mark Sigua and Kritika Singh. The Red Carpet event will be held at Kimball High School’s Sports Complex on Thursday, November 5th from 6:00-7:00pm. Come out and support our students on their wonderful accomplishments.

I want to wish you all a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday season. Have a safe and relaxing Thanksgiving break!

Dr. Jeanine Wilson, Principal

I am thrilled to be a part of the George Kelly community! I have enjoyed getting to know the students, staff, and parents each day! Teachers and staff have the students’ best interests at heart…as I notice that relationships are strong and trusting between many! The standards and expectations for students to achieve success in their academics and character traits are easily noticeable. Thank you for a great first year and making me feel like an integral part of this team.  Please feel free to come by or drop me an email at…my door is always open!
