Tracy High School Performing Arts Magnet

Program Requirements

                The Tracy High School Performing Arts Magnet is a special program for students who possess an interest or talent in the performing arts.  The instructional program offers an enriched curriculum, which prepares students for further study at two-year and four-year colleges and universities, and for entry-level career options in the entertainment industry.  Graduates of the Performing Arts Magnet may pursue careers as musicians, singers, actors, directors, set designers, filmmakers, and teachers.

                 Students choose one of seven program majors: 1) Drama/Theater, 2) Vocal Music, 3) Instrumental Music (Band Concentration), 4) Instrumental Music (Jazz Concentration), 5) Instrumental Music (Piano Concentration), 6) Instrumental Music (Orchestra Concentration), or 7) General Music.  Each program major leads to specialized certificates and diplomas.  Certificate candidates must complete three years of concentrated course work, and diploma candidates must complete five years of concentrated coursework and a senior project.  All certificate and diploma candidates must maintain a 3.0 grade-point average in their program major courses.

                 In addition to receiving specialized performing arts instruction, students benefit from frequent performance opportunities, individual performance coaching, student leadership opportunities, special recognition at graduation, and special recognition on their official high school transcripts.
