San Joaquin County Math Olympiad Competition

      Tracy Unified School District’s Gifted and Talented Education program participated in the second annual San Joaquin County Math Olympiad Competition.  The competition was held on November 5th.  Thirty-one teams participated in the competition.  Two teams represented the GATE program.  They consisted of 4th, 5th and 6th grade students from South West Park, Monte Vista Middle school and Williams Middle school.  Team Black came in 10^th place. The team members were Brandon Liu, Vivian Nguyen, Kundhan Pasari, Paul Garin and Isa Guragain, with alternate Alex Klassen.  Team Teal came in 1^st place.  They outscored the 2^nd place team by 12 points, and were the only team to get a perfect score on the team competition.  The Teal Team had three members that were some of the highest scoring individuals.  They were Wentinn Liao, Nathaniel Tran and Steve Bezek.  Two of the Teal Team competitors scored perfect scores on their individual tests.  They were Wentinn Liao and Nathaniel Tran.  The Teal team members were Wentinn Liao, Cifriana DelaCruz, Nathaniel Tran, Steve Bezek and Ben Noack, with alternate Shamar Jeffers.
