GATE FAQs

Q:  I would like to have my child assessed for the GATE program what is my first step?
A:  On Thursday, November 17, 2011 at Williams Middle School, there is a meeting for all parents who are interested in having their child assessed.  It is important to attend this meeting as it will tell you all that you need to know.

Q:  When is the assessment?                                                                                                                                                         A:  The assessment is being held on Saturday, January 21, 2012, for students entering third through seventh grade. For students entering 2nd grade the assessment date is Saturday, March 24, 2012.  This date will also be available for students entering third through seventh grade who were unable to attend the January 21st date.  Please note that March 24 is the only assessment date for those students entering 2nd grade.

Q:  If qualified would my child need to leave our home school?
A:  Yes, our GATE program is a magnet program held at South/West Park School.  SWP is on a traditional schedule - August through May.

Q:  When are the GATE Parent Advisory Meetings?
A:  Thursday, October 13, 2012 at 5:30pm - Williams Middle School
     Thursday, April 19, 2012 at 5:30pm - Williams Middle School

Q:  Where is the Elementary GATE Magnet Program?
A:  The Elementary GATE Magnet Program is housed at the South/West Park Elementary School.
